Snowfall turns Murree and Galiyat into some of the busiest and most unpredictable roads near Islamabad. This guide covers how to plan the day, what to carry and how to choose a vehicle. We review it every season.

Before you leave Islamabad
- Check the weather forecast and the latest road and traffic updates for Murree and Galiyat.
- Choose weekdays or early mornings if you can: heavy snowfall weekends bring long queues.
- Tell your driver your plan, your group and how long you want to stay, so the day is planned around the road.
- Keep a flexible return time. If snow is falling, leaving earlier is usually better than waiting.
Choosing a vehicle for snow
Higher ground clearance and four-wheel drive help on snow and ice. A Prado, Land Cruiser or Revo is the sensible choice when snow is expected. A sedan can cope on dry days but is not our recommendation for snowfall. Tell us your date and we advise honestly.
